After 24 or so days of consistent drinking, I have enjoyed working through Craft Beer Cellar Grand Rapids’s Beer Advent Calendar for 2018!

It was a fun experience to see what Brian Beaucher and his team at Craft Beer Cellar Grand Rapids came up with for each box. They made 144 boxes this year and there were two rounds of boxes. I had a box from Round 1.

When I interviewed Brian about the Advent Box, he said that the beer selections were “heavy on regional breweries, especially here in Michigan as we have so many amazing choices.”

Craft Beer Cellar GR’s website advertised the boxes well!

This post is going rank the Michigan selections in terms of how I enjoyed them. Each beer name links to Untappd and my notes for each are also included. Cheers!

Honorable Mention – Ciders

I’m sure I’m going to catch some flack for having the ciders be listed as an honorable mention, BUT it’s a craft BEER box.

The inclusion of these ciders did pique my interest and I hope to discover more of each either in the store/bottle shop or at the cidery.

Caramel Apple

  • Delicious caramel taste throughout with dry finish
  • Ridge Cider Co.
  • Grant, MI
  • Day 4

What Michigan beers/breweries do you think were left out of this year’s box? Let us know!

What an excellent way to count down the days until Christmas! Cannot wait to see what Brian and his crew create next holiday season!

Cheers!

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
