On my recent trip to visit some breweries after the long, arduous sober April, I ended up re-paying a visit to a brewery that I enjoy very much. This brewery opened in 2019 and is located in Jonesville, Michigan. I am talking of course about Ramshackle Brewing Company.

Although Ramshackle is a smaller place, they are making some delicious beverages out of their cozy little space. The bar area is a small bar that seats approximately 6 people with an additional 10 tables throughout the brewery for your drinking pleasure.

Ramshackle is home to a few events on occasion such as Open Mic night, Music Bingo, Live Music and more. Check their social media or give them a call up at the brewery to see if there will be any events during your next visit to the brewery. If you are interested in hosting a private event, reach out to Ramshackle and check their availability for private events.

With them being a smaller brewery, they do not have a kitchen on site. Ramshackle does offer a few small snacks for you to munch on during your visit. Since they don’t offer a kitchen they are food friendly. So bring in your favorite carryout with you or visit one of the local establishments to grab a bite to eat while you enjoy a few beers during your time at Ramshackle. In addition to being food friendly, Ramshackle is also dog and kid friendly, so feel free to bring your children and your fur babies.

If you are feeling the tightness of the economy at the moment, visit Ramshackle from 3-5 on the weekdays and 1-3 on the weekends and take advantage of their Happy Hour specials where you receive 2 dollars off half pours of their beers. Even though they are small, Ramshackle also distributes their products to a few establishments that are local to the Jonesville area.

On your visit, if you bring someone with you that doesn’t enjoy beer, they do offer Seltzer on the menu and on occasions they do offer NA Hop Water. For the children and the non-alcohol drinkers, Ramshackle does offer various options of Faygo to enjoy. They even offer an interesting concept that I haven’t seen anywhere else. If you want to try multiple flavors of Faygo in a sitting or your kids want to enjoy a flight while mom and dad enjoy a beer flight, they offer Faygo flights.

How can I write an article about a brewery without talking about the beer? The answer is that I can’t. When it comes to their beer selections they usually have 6 beers on tap. This lineup usually consists of 3 of their staple beers and 3 rotating seasonal beers. One of their staple beers, English Drizzle- English IPA is a current Gold Medal Winner for the Untappd Community awards for the year 2024. This beer is also a gluten reduced beer for those of you out there that are adverse to gluten in your diet. The beers that I have tried on my visits to Ramshackle include the English Drizzle, Paige Tuner- Scotch Ale, HB40- Hazy IPA, Emerald Spire Jab- Pale Ale, Popular Command- Oatmeal Stout and JAB (Just A Beer)- Pale Ale.

The best beer that I have had on my trips has to go to the Hoarder Porter, which I just had on my visit last week to Ramshackle Brewing Company. This beer is accentuated by notes of dark chocolate and coffee, which creates a slight roastiness but finishes light, easy and ever so smooth. Although it is dark and seems intimidating, it is one of the more approachable Porters you will ever come across. This one checks in at a mere 5.2% ABV, so feel free to enjoy a couple of these at any time of the year, but do so responsibly.

For your next beer trip, take a trip down historic US-12 (there are quite a few great breweries along this road all throughout the State). As you are traveling down US-12, make sure to stop in at Ramshackle Brewing Company and grab a few of the tasty concoctions that they are whipping up on a daily basis. Cheers!
