The Brewers of Indiana Guild‘s 2023 Winterfest is set to take place on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Tickets are still available for purchase here.
We attended the festival way back in 2020 and provided preview and post coverage. We’re looking forward to returning to the festival and exploring the Indiana Craft Beer Scene.
Leading up to the festival, we have provided coverage of which breweries will be attending. In total, there will be a little over 80 breweries.
With this expanded coverage and being a Michigan-based media group, we have noticed differences between what we’re used to up in Michigan and how things are run in Indiana.
One difference is Indiana does not have drink tokens or tickets at their festivals. Yes, Michiganders, you read that right. Unlimited samples. It’s always a good idea, though, to responsibly pace yourself.
Speaking of beers, another difference is the festival’s beer list. For the upcoming Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Beer Fest taking place on February 25, a complete beer list is already available for viewing with 124 breweries and over 700 different beers.
For this weekend’s festival, only 50 breweries have submitted beers to the guild’s list at the time of publishing. We’re hoping more will be added heading into the weekend. When we’ve reached out to breweries and asked them what they are bringing, many say it’s “a game time decision” based on what’s ready to go and available for a festival.
Here are the 20 beers we think you should check out. Like the 2022 U.P. Fall Beer Festival list and the 2022 Detroit Fall Beer Festival list we have ditched the #1-20 beer list style and organized it by style – lighter beers, IPAs, love-themed beers (Valentine’s Day is next week), heavy beers, and Barrel Aged beers. Within each type of beer, beers are organized in alphabetical order by brewery name.
