Yep. You read that right.

Better on Draft, the craft beer podcast and blog, is participating in Dry January in 2020.

All podcasts, guest features, and, most, website content will be centered on non alcoholic options for the entire month.

While this is not a mandatory decree for all hosts and bloggers, Ken Konarzewski, founder of Better on Draft LLC. is taking it seriously himself and pledging to not drink during January. The idea stemmed from two movements – Sober October and Dry January.

Sober October was made popular by Joe Rogan and his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. He encouraged people to take October off from drinking in order to feel better about themselves and reap the health benefits that came with it. Plenty of people have taken on the challenge and failed, while others have been successful.

October is a busy month for Better on Draft. We have co-hosted a beer festival the past two years in early October at Jimmy Johns Field in Utica. We also enjoy attending and pouring beers at the Detroit Fall Beer Festival in Eastern Market at the end of the month. While it would definitely be a challenge, it would not be conducive to the brand of Better on Draft.

Instead, Ken looked to the English with Dry January. It is the same premise as Sober October, but piggybacks off of New Years Resolutions and attempting to develop better habits for the new year. It has become more and more popular in the last five years, as more and more people outside of England have accepted the challenge.

There will be three podcasts this month, again all focused on non alcoholic options for those either participating in Dry January or for those looking for other options to beer. Check out our guests and topics.

Website content will be focused on non alcoholic options. Stay tuned for reviews and features of local and national offerings to try out.

Cheers!

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
