Having neighbors in the brewing community is so exciting. Just down the street from Bearded Lamb Brewing Company in Downtown Plymouth, we have an Arbor Brewing Company location. Arbor has been perfecting their craft ever since 1995, and boy have they done an excellent job at it.
What started as one location in Downtown Ann Arbor, sadly this location is no longer with us, has blossomed into a brand that is recognized statewide and has 3 locations where they serve up their delicious recipes at. I was really sad to see the Ann Arbor location leave us. I have very fond memories of nights spent at Arbor Brewing Company in Ann Arbor over the years.
In addition to the Plymouth location (opened 2019), Arbor operates the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti, Michigan (opened in 2006), and the brand new Session Room in Ann Arbor which just opened this past summer. All pictures included in this review are from the Plymouth location, it is the closest to home for me. I have not made it to the Session Room yet, I will make it there in the near future though.
All of Arbor’s locations are very spacious with plenty of seating available for your drinking and dining needs. The three venues all serve food with various options such as appetizers, burgers, salads, pizza, and sandwiches. So if you feel like grabbing something to eat along with your couple of beverages, Arbor Brewing Company has got you covered. They also have a kids menu, just in case you can’t find a babysitter for your night out.
Arbor does host events between their various locations, I know that they host a weekly trivia night at the Plymouth location. Check Arbor’s socials and website to see if the location you are visiting happens to be hosting an event during your next trip to the taproom. Planning a huge party sometime in the future? Arbor does offer space for private event rentals at their various locations, check with the brewery to see about booking your next extravaganza.
When it comes to the person in your group that doesn’t drink beer, Arbor does have a few various options for Hard Cider on at all times. When it comes to the people that come along that don’t drink alcohol, they offer a few soda options for you to consume during your visit.
Arbor has become a force to be reckoned with over the years, and they have done so with a variety of different beers that are in the year round and seasonal lineups. Their year round lineup includes Tropi Tango- Juicy IPA, Tilted Earth- Hoppy Kolsch, Strawberry Blonde, Buzzsaw IPA, and Euchre Pils. Some of their seasonal offerings include Oktoberfest, Faricy’s Dry Irish Stout, Pollination Sensation- Honey Lavender Ale, Satin Skies- Oatmeal Stout, and quite a few others that rotate constantly throughout the year. In good news, if you can’t make it to an Arbor location near you, they package their beers for statewide distribution. Check your local beer store to see if they offer Arbor’s products on the shelves.
One of my more recent trips to Arbor is when I had my favorite beer of all time from Arbor actually. I believe this might have been a Plymouth only taproom release. The beer that I am talking about was called Goth Mode, and it was a Black IPA. This IPA is brewed with a darker roasted malt. It had a strong hop presence, was pretty bitter and finished relatively dry. But all of this combined into one of the easiest drinking Black IPAs that I have had in a while. But be careful at 7.5% ABV, this one is a sipper, having more than one is okay, but please do so responsibly.
Speaking of the Plymouth location, when I went to take pictures for this post earlier in the week, a follower of the page, Samantha Lafrance was working behind the bar. Samantha is awesome, you should stop by and have a few with Samantha next time you are in the area. Another follower of the page that I know that works at the Plymouth location of Arbor, Tim Deglopper, and he is the manager of the taproom in Plymouth. Tim used to work at Bearded Lamb Brewing Company as a brewer during the infancy of Bearded Lamb. Little known fact, Tim actually created the Bearded Lamb logo that we all know and love.
When you are looking to have a quality beer with even better people, stop off at one of the various Arbor Brewing Company locations and enjoy a few pints. With almost 30 years of brewing tradition behind the company, it shows in every single pint that they pour for the community. Prost!
