Lost Art Brewhouse in Walker, MI is nearing its one-year anniversary in July, which is an exciting milestone for any brewery to hit. A great way to gear up for the celebration is to pick up their Dune Climber, an American IPA that showcases what the brewery is up to and capable of nearing its first birthday.

Described as “summertime in a can”, this IPA has bold, juicy flavors that will bring you and your taste buds right to West Michigan and its infamous sand dunes. Out of the beer notes boasted on the can, one could expect to taste pineapple, peaches, and passion fruit from the “unique blend of American hops”. I was able to pick up all the fruity notes, yet the peach shone through the most. I found Dune Climber to be your standard American IPA. The various fruit notes brought a little character to the mix.

Enjoyed during a wonderful spring sunset on the deck.

I stopped by Lost Art earlier this spring. I was excited because it was my first time being in the brewery during business hours. My first visit to the brewery was in June of 2020 to meet Brad Lawrence and Mike Smith, the minds behind Lost Art. The other visit was in late summer as a guest on episode 64 of the State of MI Sports podcast.

When I visited in March, the brewery was busy with patrons maintaining social distancing and mask ordinances both inside and outside the brewery. Five beers were available on draft with plenty more available in 16 oz cans. There was a food truck outside and it was the place to be on a warm Friday evening. During my visit, I sipped on the newly released Vanilla Latte Cake, which I would highly recommend those looking for a simple yet sweet Stout.

Lost Art Brewhouse is making a name for itself as a top notch brewery in the West Michigan craft beer scene. More and more people are learning about their growing beer portfolio across the state making them a great place to stop by for a pint or to pick up cans. Even though I’ve only reviewed IPAs from the brewery, the rest of their beers are worth the taste.

Lost Art Brewhouse is located at 3393 Remembrance Rd NW in Walker, MI. Their hours vary so check out their information on their social media channels or website or the Michigan Brewery Map app. The latest update to MBMA is each brewery’s hours according to Google. Quite nifty!

Cheers!

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
