Congrats, Clubtails! Your cocktails in a can were my first step into RTDs, a beverage I knew little about until now.
Ready to Drink beverages or RTDs seem to be taking up more shelf space in grocery stores and bottle shops throughout the state of Michigan. I shared similar sentiments in 2020 about Hard Seltzers when Hard Seltzer Summer kicked off, and look at the Hard Seltzer market in 2022.
In Michigan, RTDs were given a big boost in May of 2021 when Governor Whitmer signed “a bill to increase market access” to these types of beverages. RTDs gained in popularity when bars and restaurants closed down due to COVID-19 restrictions because they could give people the mixed drink experience in a can in the comfort of their own home.
Like I said above, RTDs are not my go to beverages of choice, but I’m always down to try new drinks. When Better on Draft received a few Clubtails cans for review and I thought, “Why not?” I received a 16 oz can of Pink Lemonade and a 24 oz can of Blue Hawaiian. These two flavors are a small sample of the 15 flavor portfolio Clubtails has to offer, so there is something for everyone. Each can is 10% ABV and is a “perfectly blended cocktail”.
The Pink Lemonade was the first one that I drank. Light pink in color, it was a near replica of a refreshing pink lemonade we can all recall from our childhood from start to finish. The booze was present and hit on the back end of each sip, along with a touch of sweetness. This RTD was perfect on a hot summer evening when I was looking to unwind.
The Blue Hawaiian was my favorite out of the two flavors I tried. I’m a fan of coconut in my drinks, so I enjoyed the potent pineapple and coconut combination. I was happy that I received a larger can of it because each sip was tropical and fun. Again, I enjoyed this when I was looking to relax on a summer evening. Loved the blue color with this drink!
