A short distance from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Ferndale you can find the new Taproom for Axle Brewing. Just to be up front, I went in with low expectations. Not because Axle doesn’t make good beer, but because I’m normally not a fan of the styles I can find near me. The experience Axle provided blew those expectations out of the water. With a large variety to choose from and a huge space to accommodate the Hipsters, Beer snobs and novices alike, I couldn’t really help but enjoy the visit.

But first, Let me take a selfie…

The taproom is still new, so I expected it to be busy, but I wasn’t prepared for how busy. Nor was I prepared for how many times I’d have to drive around the block to get a parking spot 2 blocks away. The taproom is gigantic. The patio is fantastic. Why are there only like 10 parking spots? Sorry, that’s just a pet peeve of mine. I didn’t get a chance to cozy up to the bar, so I guess I will have to go back to check for Purse hooks and charging stations. Darn.

With a bar the entire length of the building, and an array of seating from long tables to more intimate comfy chair groupings, Axle is a good place to go whether you are stopping in solo, meeting a group of friends or having dinner with the family. Trust me there, will be kids. The taproom is easily accessible to those walking or biking in the area. Don’t worry, even if you aren’t a fan of kids in a bar, there is room enough for everyone!

Easy accessibility, a large patio and a bar the length of the building? What more could a person want in a taproom?

If it is food you are looking for Livernois Tap has something for you too. Check out the website and you will find a food menu, a dessert menu, a bar food menu, A happy hour menu, a brunch menu and a kid’s menu. If you can’t find something you want to try on a list like that, well you are probably too picky to be eating out anyways.

As an established brand, I went in expecting to find the same old standards that I can get at any number of locations around metro Detroit. To say that I was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. Axle has hit the mark with Livernois Tap. Go check it out for yourself and let me know what you think too!
