I’m going to go out on a limb and say it …

Austin Brothers Beer Co is going to be the next big thing in the Michigan craft beer scene.

The craft beer buzz has been brewing up in Alpena, MI along with the dynamite beers. I have not had a bad beer from what I’ve been able to grab in distribution and I cannot wait to make the trip up to Alpena to check out the brewery in person.

I drank and took note of this week’s beer review on air during Episode 203 of Better on Draft. Jack from Zetouna Liquor was kind enough to bring in a four pack of the Triple Berry Sourbet for us to try in the weekly beer share. We appreciated Jack’s banter on the episode and his on going sponsorship of the podcast.

Triple Berry Sourbet is a very drinkable beer that was packed with a ton of berry flavor. It turns out this kettle sour was brewed with lactose sugar and 1,500 lbs of raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. I felt like I was drinking a boozy smoothie. Wonder how many antioxidants stuck around to give drinkers health benefits…

Each sip was more tart than sour, so I found this beer to be very accessible to a wide variety of beer drinkers, but I know it is still going to be polarizing with our friends that do not believe fruit belongs in beer.

Overall, I found the beer to be delicious with its fruity and sweet add ins. Give this beer a try if you’re looking to get into sours and/or Austin Brothers Beer Co’s options.

Cheers!

Disclaimer: Jack Zetouna brought this beer onto Episode 203 of Better on Draft. I was so blown away, I had to review it. Thanks, Jack!

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
