The Goodbye, Winter! Beer Fest is the final installment of the stay-at-home beer festivals I’ve put on. Since May 2020, I’ve followed the Michigan Brewers Guild‘s model of a Spring, Summer, two Fall, and Winter beer festivals and enjoyed beers at home. It’s been a wild ride of digging around in my beer stash and locating new-to-me beers from Michigan breweries.

For this beer festival, I’ve made a few changes. I’ve upped the number of beers I’ll be consuming from 15 to 20 and I’ve spread out the celebration to five days instead of three. The sample size for all of them will be the same. If any tickle my fancy, there will be room to enjoy more on the day with only four beers being consumed instead of six.

Each of the days will have one IPA, Stout, and Sour. IPAs and Stouts are tried and true styles that I have always enjoyed. Sours are a newer style to me, but I wanted to expand my horizons and include them. Beers that didn’t fit under these three styles were the designated Wild Cards, and I will be enjoying one each of the days as well.

With all of that in mind, here is the breakdown of the beers I will be enjoying during the Goodbye, Winter! Beer Fest:

As stated above, I’ve never had any of these beers and I am looking forward to trying each of them.

The Goodbye, Winter! Beer Fest will take place before the first day of Spring 2021 on March 20. Can’t wait!

Cheers!

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
