The Michigan Brewers Guild’s 3rd Annual Inaugural Spring Beer Festival will take place on Saturday, May 7. Yes, you read that right – “3rd Annual Inaugural.” The first two Spring Beer Festivals were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

The festival will take place at Turtle Creek Stadium, which is south of Traverse City. Gates will open at 1 pm and close at 6 pm. Enthusiasts will be allowed in an hour early per usual of the Michigan Brewers Guild festivals.

Most thought the festival would take place in the parking lot of the baseball stadium like the Winter Beer Festival in Grand Rapids. The festival program and map were released to show that the festival will take place in and around the stadium.

Upon first glance, the festival layout seems spread out. Instead of having tents to reference and areas around the tents, this festival references the bases on the field, concourses, fences, and roads.

We’ve scoured the beer list of over 450 beers from 98 breweries to come up with this list of the 20 beers we think you need to try at the Spring Beer Festival. In order to help you navigate where our top 20 beers are, we’ve provided both the name and number of where the beer will be in reference to the map.

MAY 7 UPDATE – Arvon Brewing Co reached out to inform us that they had to cancel their tent at the festival. We’re looking forward to checking them out at the next festival.

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
