Last weekend my wife and I went to check out Ypsilanti’s very own “Cultivate Coffee & Tap House”. I had heard many great things about this place so I was looking forward to going all day. In preparation, as I do before I go to any venue, I explored the tap list for what I will want to try when I get there. Of the 35 taps, several jump out at me. The one that jumped out first was “#33- Jaden James Peanut Butter Porter”. It jumped out at me because I really like peanut butter and the IDEA of peanut butter combined with the character of a good Porter sounds great. However, each iteration of it I have tried has been nothing short of terrible. Jaden James version offered me an entirely different experience. There wasn’t an overwhelming peanut butter aroma in the nose as there was with some others I have had. It was very subtle. The first sip took me by surprise. My prior experience wouldn’t allow me to think it would be this good. It has a nice smooth mouthfeel with the peanut butter present throughout. At 6.3% ABV, the warmth in the finish was just right. I had a four sample flight and this was certainly a highlight. Cheers!
