Over the weekend I tried three different homebrews from my friend at Something Something Brewing Company and I wanted to share some mini reviews with you! And yes, the beers are all named after Mario Kart levels/characters.
Yoshi’s Island Berry Lager
Great tasting beer! It has a nice lager front and a super fruity finish! It’s made with guava, pomegranate, and Galaxy Hops (which also lend to the fruity quality). I drank a lot of this. Probably too much…
DK’s Banana Bread Brown
Probably the most banana bready beer I’ve ever had. So what’s the secret? Bananas? Nuts? NOPE. It’s all in the malts and yeast. Shock! Surprise! Chemistry!
Grand Master Cyser
Holy cannoli. A cider/mead combo with 5lbs(!!) of Skittles. Have you ever wanted a glass of Skittles? Enjoy!
I wanted to do this review to set up a platform for discussing homebrewing. As I’m sure you know, homebrewing is an incredible blend of science and creativity. It’s a hobby where you can truly enjoy the fruits of your labor! You can even get serious and learn everything there is to learn about brewing, as many colleges are now offering brewing programs. There are three in Michigan alone (Central Michigan, Schoolcraft College, and Kalamazoo College)! If you’ve ever thought of dabbling in homebrewing, you should go for it! Get out there and make your dream beer! I’m rooting for you!!

HA 5lb of Skittles?! I hope he bought in bulk, that’s a lot of packages. I need this in me.
