I’ve been terribly busy lately with work and adult life in general. I wanted to take it easy and reach for something that wouldn’t challenge my palate too much. How about a low ABV, light lager from Wolverine Brewing? What could go wrong?

Oh my gosh the bubbles! The head! The carbonation! I love the energy in this beer. As soon as I poured it I was hooked. The smell is very college apartment. Not quite as sickly or stale but definitely more of sour note. I do find it amusing that a very University of Michigan themed brewery would remind me of a dorm room. I am assuming it does not taste as cheap as it smells.

Luckily, it does not. There is a nice variety of flavors occurring here with a definite sweet and sour balance. The hop character isn’t there much but it may be a bit too bitter for those who are adverse to IPAs. This is a great choice for a friend trying to have their bro friend crossover from Natty Ice. It could be my bottle but unfortunately there is a fairly strong “sucking on a penny” flavor that I just can’t seem to shake. It leaves me feeling a little on a parched side, not a good thing for a drink.

So the short answer is not much could go wrong. This is a pretty straightforward lager. There is a bit of sweetness, a bit of spice, and a lot of carbonation. It won’t challenge your tastes but I wouldn’t call it a bad choice either. Grab it or don’t?

Meh.
