It had to have been a week of emotions for Drafting Table Brewing Company out of Wixom.
Thursday, March 26 was the 4th anniversary of the brewery!
Saturday, March 28 was spent selling growlers and four-packs curbside to comply with the governor’s orders instead of celebrating the 4th-anniversary party.
Drafting Table announced on Monday, March 30 that they would be temporarily suspending retail and to-go sales at the brewery due to the COVID-19 spread in Oakland County, one of Michigan’s hot spots.

I’ve been celebrating the 4th anniversary of Drafting Table by drinking my four-pack of their canned release of Mom Said No – Cinnamon Roll throughout the rollercoaster of a week for the brewery. The can suggested that this beer should not be aged, so with the February release, it was time to enjoy it.
Drafting Table has at least two other versions of Mom Said No – Peanut Butter and Chocolate and Chocolate Covered Pretzel Cinnamon. All three versions are Imperial Stouts so I was expecting big and boozy flavor in the Cinnamon Roll version.
I found the can art to be a little too cutesy for an 8.5% Imperial Stout. The beer looked dark and dense in the glass and had a strong cinnamon nose. The cinnamon stuck around throughout each sip. As I let the beer warm, the cinnamon settled and the vanilla shone through showcasing the beer’s sweet and creamy side.
My prediction about this beer having a strong, boozy taste was not accurate. Mom Said No – Cinnamon Roll was very smooth. Each time I enjoyed a can of it, I found it hard to believe that this imperial stout was 8.5%. At this point in my beer drinking journey, Drafting Table’s Cinnamon Roll variant of Mom Said No, is the best cinnamon roll beer out there! It’s approachable and delicious, which is a good combination.
