10 Blinks is a Cherry Saison brewed in celebration of ABC Microbrewery’s 10th Anniversary. Formally known as Corner Brewery, ABC Microbrewery is Arbor Brewing Company’s Brewpub & Brewery located in Ypsilanti, MI. It’s pretty much exactly what you would expect from a Pilsner. It’s crisp and light, but of course, Founders put their own twist on the Pils by using American hops. The American hops give it just a little bit of a “bite” that is not characteristic of Pilsners.

Thrash Punk is a light-bodied, easy to drink beer that is considerably more mellow than it’s name would suggest. Brewed with direct trade, single source coffee from Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, it tastes and smells quite a bit like freshly brewed java. You wouldn’t know it from looking it at however, as its straw yellow in color… pretty standard fare for a kolsch. The moment you know you’re in for something with a little more zing is when you finally get a whiff it, as it smells like a faceful of freshly-ground coffee beans.

The beer looks much darker than it tastes. It also doesn’t’ have an overpowering “rye-ness”. Let me take you on a tour of a taste. The first thing you’ll notice is an effervescence and a tickly texture. Next you’ll walk down a malty trail which sets up the middle bulk of the trip. Finally, you’ll come across a grainy rye surprise. I guess it isn’t much of a surprise since it’s in the title but it hides on you for a bit. None of the flavors make a giant impact but there are some dynamic tastes here.

A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ tastes just as good as it smells… tropical, hoppy, malty, and enchanting. It’s a very hop-forward brew, but behind all that zesty bitterness is a silky smoothness thanks to the wheat, making it incredibly drinkable and refreshing. At 7.5%, it’s no lightweight, but the booze is buried under mountains of crisp, refreshing deliciousness. While some sources say it’s not technically an IPA, this one should please any West Coast India Pale Ale fan.
