Hey Geeks and Nerds! Did you get to Gen Con this year? No? Me either. But I was lucky enough to get a hold of the Gen Con 2016 beer! Big thanks to Renee for the Twenty Sided Rye! For those who don’t know Gen Con is an awesome board game convention in Indianapolis. You should try it some time!

I really like the smell of this beer. It has a nice and sunny smell, very inviting. The color is nice as well. It’s very carmalley and warm with a fluffy, foamy head. So pleasant!

The beer looks much darker than it tastes. It also doesn’t’ have an overpowering “rye-ness”. Let me take you on a tour of a taste. The first thing you’ll notice is an effervescence and a tickly texture. Next you’ll walk down a malty trail which sets up the middle bulk of the trip. Finally, you’ll come across a grainy rye surprise. I guess it isn’t much of a surprise since it’s in the title but it hides on you for a bit. None of the flavors make a giant impact but there are some dynamic tastes here.

This isn’t the most depthful beer I’ve ever had. There is a nice variety in the flavors and they blend together very nicely but that’s about it. This is a great beer for sipping/slamming while playing some board games but it’s not overly heavy or boozy so feel free to drink away. A truly enjoyable beer! Shout out to the Hoosiers!

NERD!! Now that I got that out of my system, I have to say I wouldn’t mind trying this. I’m not a huge rye beer fan, though I’ve done my darndest to dig them in recent years, but you may have brought me around to this nerd brew. This nice thing is I won’t be able to find it anywhere near me ever, so that’s neat.

Not only that but it was a limited brew so I don’t know if you’d be able to find it, even if you went to Indy. Sorry! It’s a good try though haha.
