With the doldrums of winter going strong (even though the weather hasn’t been too bad) and the world blending into shades of grey I wandered the local grocery store looking for something to drink. Lo and behold I came across a bottle of Strongbow Cherry Blossom. The bright pink color called to me and my seasonal affect disorder lifted for just a moment. So colorful! So cheery! I had to have it.

This cider is pretty fun to look at. It’s like wine’s fun cousin. It’s a bright and cheery pink with a pleasant fizz along the top. The smell is definitely cider but there isn’t that edge of tartness that most cider has. Through the teeth, past the gums, look out stomach, here it comes!

You can take this however you’d like. This drink tastes almost exactly like watered down Faygo Redpop. Now, before you have a brain aneurism, that’s not altogether unpleasant. Redpop, by its very nature, is the sweetest thing in the world. You can go into diabetic shock just by looking at it. Watering it down but still maintaining it’s fabulous fruity flavor is actually a nice change. There is a slight cidery tartness and a rosy apple finish which I enjoy. While my description may send shockwaves through the cider community, I hope you can understand my intent.
Strongbow Cherry Blossom is definitely not for everyone. It’s not a dry cider at all and it tastes more like a pop (soda) than a cider. However, if you’re looking for something a little more sweet and a little more fun, you could do a hell of a lot worse.
