When I saw this bottle, I was a bit unsure about it. Stone does incredible work with the uber fresh “Enjoy By…” series, but I was unsure because this one is a “Tangerine IPA”. Why mess with a good thing? Why change up the formula? I will be the first to say that I am always suspicious of the combination of fruit and beer, but that’s not what this is. Stone has blended an excellent botanical bomb filled with fresh hops, malt, and tangerine rinds. There is a very pleasant floral and citrus nose followed by a slightly bitter taste of tangerine peel. All of this is balanced well by the fresh hops and malt. The 9.4%ABV is hidden well until the very end where I got some warmth in my stomach. This one is for true IPA fans. If you’re on the proverbial fence about IPA’s, this one may not be for you. As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
