If you missed the recent movie showings of The Fifth Element for it’s 20th anniversary then boy do I feel sorry for you! This is a classic sci-fi action comedy that I truly enjoyed seeing on the big screen. Only one thing could make this movie going experience even more magical.. beer!

Somehow, I’ve never had Lagunita’s IPA. I figured now would be as good a time as any to try it! The smell is a pretty standard IPA. hoppy and vaguely floral. I really like the color. It’s a very golden-orange color. Nice and summery and very California, dude. Nice and foamy too. Friendly to the eye and friendly to the nose. How about the mouth?

Frankly, I don’t have much to say beside solid. It’s a solid IPA, not strongly hoppy. There’s a nice balance with a fair amount of malt. It leads to a bit of a bite but very drinkable. Are you an IPA fan? You’ll enjoy this! If you’re not, you won’t! A simple description for a simple beer.

Lagunita’s is not a brewery without controversy. At least regarding its founder. Whether it’s filing a trademark lawsuit against Sierra Nevada or reacting to a cease a desist by Sweetwater, it is a brewery in the news. However, sometimes it’s just about the beer. You can choose to drink (or not drink) any beer that you’d like! Whether it’s 3 Floyds Dark Lord Power Bottom or Miller High Life, or whether the owner only eats fruit hand picked by a rare South Asian monkey or sues a brewery for calling their beverages “beer”, drink what you like! I happen to like Lagunitas IPA. It’s not my favorite IPA but I don’t feel the least bit sorry to enjoy it.
You do you, dear reader! Supergreen!

I now know I have more options for beer at the movie theater. For this, I thank you.
