I tried this beer on draft at EG Nick’s in downtown Plymouth. A nice little bar where the wait time is long on a nice spring evening and the trivia is serious business.

In appearance, it’s a rich gold and the aroma reminds me quite a bit of mead. It’s a rich, sweet smell but not overly saccharine.

I don’t know if you could have a better mouthfeel. The best word I can use to describe it is buttery. It coats your mouth in a delicious smoothness that really makes for a pleasant experience. There is also a pleasant amount of carbonation giving it a pleasant effervescence. You will laugh in the face of the 10% ABV. It’s pleasant sweetness and smooth texture will have you on the floor before you know it. Cloves give you a spicy, rich “toasted nut” aftertaste.

The only detriment, and the one thing keeping this beer from perfection is the booziness. Once it is warm the high alcohol content is much more apparent. It’s perfect for anyone wanting a shot of beer.

This beer is a joy and a delight. If you’re looking for something a little stronger but easy on the mouth you couldn’t do much better.
