I am generally a fan of Belgian beers, but sometimes they are far too yeasty. My alternative and preference is American Style Belgians. They tend to be more hoppy and less yeasty. The best of both worlds is an American Belgian-Style IPA. Enter Clown Shoes “American Monastic”. The folks at Clown Shoes nailed this one. “American Monastic” is a nearly perfectly balanced expression of the Belgian-Style IPA. The Belgian yeast is prominent, but shares the show with the hops. The 8.5%ABV goes down almost too well. This is super easy to drink even with the warm, dry finish. Cheers!
