I am a fan of IPA’s. I like East Coast IPA’s, West Coast IPA’s, Midwest IPA’s and just about any other kind of IPA you could think of. IPA’s usually have some staple characteristics based on style (East Coast, West Coast, etc.) and that is what makes them stand out. “The Calling” IPA from Boulevard Brewing Co. seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. It’s not quite sure what it wants to be. It has some floral notes, a little citrus, a little malt, but nothing that makes it a standout IPA. What I can only assume is an attempt at balance turns out to almost mute the the flavors. It’s not a bad IPA, but there are several that I would grab ahead of this one. Cheers!
